Jupiter in Virgo (2027 to 2028): which part of your life it lights up
Jupiter moves into Virgo on 26 July 2027 and stays about a year. The dates, the themes, and the house Virgo rules in your chart, where the year offers the most room.
Jupiter is astrology's planet of growth, luck and opportunity, and it changes sign about once a year. On 26 July 2027 (UTC) it leaves Leo and enters Virgo, where it stays until 24 August 2028. A year in a sign is long enough to shape what you do, which is why people watch it.
This guide gives the exact dates, what Jupiter in Virgo is about, which part of your life it lights up (by Rising sign), and how to use the year.
The dates
These come from the same planetary ephemeris that draws the free birth chart on this site. Times are UTC.

Jupiter takes about twelve years to go once around the zodiac, so a Jupiter-in-Virgo year comes round once a dozen years. The last time was from 11 August 2015 to 9 September 2016. It is worth looking back at what that year was like for you, because it often rhymes.
What Jupiter does
Jupiter expands whatever it touches. In a sign it describes where you find room, faith and generosity. In a house it shows where life grows. It rewards effort and optimism, and it also magnifies excess, so it is not simply "luck". It is opportunity plus appetite.
What Virgo is about
Virgo is the sign of craft, detail, service, health and improvement. It values being useful and getting things right. Put the two together and Jupiter in Virgo is growth through precision and usefulness.
The themes of Jupiter in Virgo
- Work and craft. Getting better at the thing you do, rather than louder about it. Skill compounds.
- Health and routines. Habits, sleep, food and the daily structure that supports everything else.
- Service. Being useful to people and being rewarded for it; jobs and businesses built on real help.
- Learning and skills. Practical training, certificates and tools that raise your standard.
- Systems. Cleaning up processes, finances and data, so growth has a clean base.
There is a caution that goes with it. Jupiter overdoes things, and Virgo is already the sign of worry and perfection. The risk is over-analysis, over-planning and the idea that nothing is ready yet. The year rewards starting before it is perfect, and finishing.
Which house does it light up for you?
Planets act through the houses of your chart, so the question is where Virgo falls for you. The simple way to find it is by your Rising sign (whole sign houses):
| Your Rising sign | Virgo is your... | Jupiter lights up | A good use of the year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | 6th house | Work routines, health, daily habits | Rebuild routines, upskill, improve working conditions |
| Taurus | 5th house | Creativity, romance, play | Finish a creative project, invest in joy and relationships |
| Gemini | 4th house | Home, family, roots | Improve your living situation, repair family ties |
| Cancer | 3rd house | Communication, learning, siblings | Study, write, teach, publish, short trips |
| Leo | 2nd house | Money, earnings, what you value | Raise income through skill, tidy finances |
| Virgo | 1st house | You: body, identity, a fresh start | A new chapter: health, look, direction |
| Libra | 12th house | Rest, the unconscious, endings | Retreat, therapy, closure, behind-the-scenes work |
| Scorpio | 11th house | Friends, networks, long-term goals | Join groups, ask for help, set a long plan |
| Sagittarius | 10th house | Career, reputation, public life | Step into a bigger role, build reputation through craft |
| Capricorn | 9th house | Travel, study, beliefs | Further training, travel, widen your outlook |
| Aquarius | 8th house | Shared money, debt, intimacy | Restructure debt, joint finances, deepen trust |
| Pisces | 7th house | Partnerships and close relationships | Commit, repair, or restructure a key partnership |

Looking back: what Jupiter in Leo set up
From June 2026 to July 2027 Jupiter is in Leo, the sign of creativity, confidence and being seen. What you begin to build under Leo is what Virgo asks you to refine. If you have been starting something visible this year, Jupiter in Virgo is the season for making it excellent. The retrograde in Leo (December 2026 to April 2027) is a review of that story before the move.
How to use the year
- Pick the house first. The table names the area where growth is available. Decide what you want from it.
- Prepare in the Leo year. Until July 2027, gather what you will want to grow.
- Expect the retrograde to be a review. From January to May 2028, Jupiter turns back over Virgo. Refine, don't launch.
- Watch what Jupiter touches in your chart. Where Jupiter in Virgo makes contact with a planet or angle in your chart, the effect is stronger. That is the part a personal reading adds.
- Keep the excess in check. Jupiter expands, so budget, hours and promises can too.
Eclipses and other things near the ingress
A total solar eclipse falls on 2 August 2027 at about 10° Leo, just a week after Jupiter enters Virgo. Eclipses are read as turning points, and this one closes the Leo chapter as the Virgo year opens.
Frequently asked questions
When does Jupiter enter Virgo?
On 26 July 2027 (UTC), and it stays until 24 August 2028.
Does Jupiter in Virgo bring luck?
Jupiter brings opportunity and growth, and what you do with it matters. In Virgo it tends to reward consistent, careful work more than lucky breaks.
Is Jupiter in Virgo good for every sign?
It is available to everyone, and it lands in a different house for each Rising sign, so the experience differs. No sign is left out.
Which signs benefit most?
Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn share an element with Virgo and often find it flows. Pisces, opposite Virgo, may feel it as a call to commit in relationships. Treat it as a house question first.
What is Jupiter's retrograde in Virgo?
From 12 January to 13 May 2028 Jupiter appears to move backwards. It is traditionally a time to review, deepen and consolidate, not to expand.
When was Jupiter last in Virgo?
From 11 August 2015 to 9 September 2016.
How does it connect to my birth chart?
By house and by aspect. The table gives the house; your chart shows what Jupiter touches there.
Is it the same as my Jupiter return?
No. Your Jupiter return happens roughly every twelve years, when Jupiter comes back to where it was at your birth. Jupiter in Virgo is a transit through a sign, and it touches different people in different places.
Where a personal reading goes further
A table by Rising sign gets you to the right area of life. It does not tell you which planets in your chart Jupiter will touch, in which months the contact is exact, or how it interacts with Saturn's long stay in Aries or the retrogrades that fall in between. That is what your own chart shows.
For the twelve months ahead, Mr. Tanker reads the slow transits against your chart and signs the result. The free version is a short written outlook; the paid Annual Personal Algorithm maps every month, with what to push and what to wait on.
